Financial Help for Cancer Patients in Massachusetts

November  22,  2018 in

As a cancer patient in Massachusetts, you are immediately plunged into a whole new world when you get diagnosed. You learn things that you never wanted to know and wish that you didn’t need to know. Though many outsiders believe that the hardest emotional burden of a cancer diagnosis is the fear of the unknown future and the shift from being treated normally to being treated as a patient, they are not aware of cancer’s other emotional rollercoaster – the never-ending stream of cancer bills.  No matter how good your health insurance is, copays and out-of-pocket expenses for cancer treatments and supplies can quickly mount, and these financial burdens often arrive at the same time that the person with cancer has cut back on work — or stopped working entirely — in order to deal with their disease and the effects of its treatment.

If you have found yourself staring at a mountain of bills and wondering how you’re going to pay them, financial help for cancer patients is available in a number of forms. Though you may be averse to asking for assistance from friends, you would be surprised by how many of your loved ones and acquaintances are looking for ways that they can feel useful – fundraisers, charity runs, beef & beers and other grass-roots efforts can not only provide a big boost for your expenses, but will also give you the emotional lift of knowing how much people care. Beyond that, if you are a cancer patient in Massachusetts there are a number of organizations that are dedicated to helping and providing financial resources. Below are just a few of the organizations available to help.
