Last week, September 16th, Fifth Season Financial attended Financial Advocacy Network Regional Meeting in New Brunswick, NJ held by the Association of Community Cancer Centers. Unfortunately, more and more patients need help paying for their cancer treatment. Additionally, cancer program staff is spending increased time with patients talking about financial issues—from treatment-related costs to concerns about transportation, childcare, and more.
To address this growing need, ACCC conducted one-day CE accredited meeting to help sharpen the skills and knowledge base of both “beginner” and “expert” financial advocates who deal directly with patients on complex financial issues surrounding their cancer diagnosis and treatment. The program featured case studies, tools, and opportunities for peer-to-peer discussion on different approaches for financial advocacy.
A lot of people were very interested to learn more about Loans for Living Program as an option to help advanced cancer patients looking for financial assistance to pay for their medical treatment.
